Blackburn Rovers provides an update on John Eustace’s FA accusation.
The authorities charged Blackburn Rovers’ head coach earlier this week after he was sent off against Coventry City last weekend. After a confrontation with Kasey Palmer, Eustace was banished to the stands to observe the rest of the game. Eustace was given till Friday afternoon to answer to the charge, which he acknowledged. However, he has demanded a personal hearing, which is unlikely to occur before Saturday’s final match. Any touchline ban would consequently apply to the following season.
In all likelihood, the head coach will be permitted to serve on the sidelines for Rovers’ final Championship match of the season against Leicester City on Saturday. Rovers require a point to guarantee their spot in the Championship.
Eustace believed he wasn’t unduly violent and was astonished by the red card. He said that arrangements were in place whether he was on the sidelines or not. According to a club release, “Blackburn Rovers can confirm that John Eustace has admitted an FA disciplinary charge for an incident during last weekend’s home game against Coventry City.” “However, the Rovers head coach has requested a Personal Hearing with an independent Regulatory Commission, which the club has been informed will most likely take place following the conclusion of the 2023-24 Championship season.
“On that basis, the club have been advised that John Eustace should therefore be able to carry out his normal managerial duties and be on the touchline for tomorrow’s final day fixture away to Leicester City.”
