Dandy signs with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL.

Russell Dandy, a former Eastern Illinois defensive back, has signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL. Last season, Dandy led the FCS in passes defended with 19, setting a school single-season record for pass breakups. He received Walter Camp All-America honors and was named first-team All-Big South/OVC Football Association. Dandy made 74 tackles for EIU over three seasons, including 3.5 for loss. He had three interceptions and 24 passes defensed.

Winnipeg is prepared for its second of three preseason games on Friday, May 31. The Blue Bombers’ 2024 regular season begins on Thursday, June 6, when they play Montreal. Dandy joins former EIU All-American wide receiver Alexander Hollins as Panthers playing in the Canadian Football League. Hollins is about to begin his third season with the BC Lions.
